Why do they call it Black Friday?

Is it due to the all the crowds?  Is it supposed to be depressing?  I guess I could google it, but I don't care that much.  What I care about is the savings!  I've taken advantage of some already, but all from the comfort of my home.  Ok, that's a lie.  I'm at work today, so how about from the comfort of my desk while I surf the net on company time?  I'm such a bad employee, but really, what do they expect when they make me work on the day after Thanksgiving?

Woodland Elves Goats Milk Soap Bar, normally $5.50, marked down to $4.40

But what is better than not having to leave the comfort of your own home to get some freaking fantastic deals?!  Nothing, I tell you!  Which is why I decided to have a Black Friday sale in my Etsy shop.  Because I want to share the laziness!  I'm even upping the ante...you don't even have to enter a coupon code to get any deals in my shop...I've marked all the prices down for you!  A few clicks and you're done.  Click, click, click...boom!  Wicked smell-goods show up on your door step!  Well, not that quickly, I'm just one chick making everything for you, but you get the idea.

Frosted Cranberry Goats Milk Soap Cube, was $5.50, marked down to $4.40

So...save 20% on your entire purchase today through Sunday at 3am (I love choosing random times to end my sales).  Remember, no coupon codes, just click, click,  click...boom!  It's THAT easy :)

Vanilla Noir Perfume Oil, was $8.00, marked down to $6.40
Happy Holidays!!

We've taken Wicked(soaps) to a whole new level

It's been almost 2 years since I started WickedSoaps and it's been a spectacular ride and quite the learning experience.  Running a business while running your life (job, kids, relationships, etc) can be a huge undertaking and sometimes things get out of line.  Perhaps that's not the best way to put it.  The bottom line is, WickedSoaps started to spin a bit out of control.  It wasn't cohesive and organized.  It didn't have the look, the branding, the appeal, that cohesiveness that I originally envisioned when I started the company and see in other successful handmade businesses.

The first step was a new logo and branding.  I had no idea what exactly I wanted, except for something different.  My search for a new look began with Etsy.  After years of being part of the Etsy community, I knew it was a hotbed of creativity and there were plenty of graphic designers selling their services there.
After many weeks searching and browsing through shops and work, I stumbled upon a little gem of a shop by the name of The Grapevine Gallery.  I contacted Terra, owner, operator and artist extraordinaire and the rest is history.  She worked with me and turned my vision for WickedSoaps into reality.  To say she did an amazing job would be an understatement.  I cannot tell you how much I love her work.  She provided me with not only a new logo, but a new banner for my Etsy shop (and blog), an avatar icon, and a business card template.

Set of Three 9 oz Jars of Emulsifying Sugar Scrub

My next step was to take the spectacular new logo and apply it to my packaging.  All new labels for every product I carry.  I'm still in the process of this, but it brings me back to my original point...my shop and business was unorganized.  I had over 50 kinds of soap listed...over 20 scents of lotion...so much in my shop that there was no way I could keep enough pre-made stock on hand, which has meant constantly scrambling to make items to fill orders. Part of the Wicked Overhaul is culling the herd.  Sometimes less is more.  I've said goodbye to quite a few soaps, sugar scrubs, scrub cubes, and lotions (speaking of lotions, I've kicked my pre-made base to the curb and am 99% finished with the creation of my own handmade-from-scratch lotion!  It will be available within the next week, stay tuned!) and kept popular scents and am starting to add some fantastic new choices.

Spiced Vanilla Toffee Goats Milk Soap

I'm still in the process of overhauling WickedSoaps, slowly but surely.  You'll see photos replaced by new ones, labels being replaced, and importantly, new fantastic products making their way into my line-up.  But stick with me kids...I'm going to turn this thing into something I can be more than proud of and a business you'll want to recommend to friends!

Thankfulness and Black Friday Sale

There are so many, things I am thankful for this year...but my #1 is my boy, my sweet, awesome, rockin', absolutely fantastic 7 year old son, Aidan.  You can see him below with his hot, rockin' momma ;-).

As my fellow American's are aware, tomorrow is the day known as Black Friday.  The day that millions of crazy ass people get up before the ass crack of dawn to go fight through crowds and line up with other crazy ass people in order to buy things on sale.  I am not one of those crazy ass people.  I like sleep.  I don't get enough sleep.  I am NOT  interrupting my sleep to stand in line outside of Macy's in 20 degree weather at 4 am behind some chick with a sleeping bag and scary gleam in her eye... If you're like me, you'll be happy to hear this...

WickedSoaps is having a Black Friday sale!  Save 15% on everything in the shop when you use the code "blackfriday" at check-out.  That's right.  15% off EVERYTHING. And best of all?  You don't have to leave your house!

Arctic Ice Limited Edition Soap

Sweet Pumpkin Eggnog Body Polish - Emulsifying Sugar Scrub

Mistletoe & Ivy Goats Milk Soap

Peppermint Creme Body Polish - Emulsifying Sugar Scrub

Like a Squirrel gathering acorns...

...I've been running around getting ready for Autumn!  There's never enough time in the day to get everything I want accomplished actually accomplished, but I'm getting there, slowly but surely.

In just one more week, my first batch of Pumpkin Cappuccino soap will be done curing and ready to list in my Etsy shop.  A week or so after that, my Earth Goddess soap will be ready to list.  I need to get off my arse and make my Amber Moon soap, too!

 Pumpkin Cappuccino Soap

In between working, sleeping, CP soapmaking, and mommying, I've managed to whip of a few new soaps that are nothing short of lovely (forgive my narcissism)....

Ahhh...Mr. Tweed, I love you.  I swear, you look and smell so fabulous I am giving up on men and making you my #1.  Isn't he handsome?  Oh, you should smell him....all debonair and class and Cary Grant in a bar of soap.  Think fedoras and martinis, my loves...

While Mr. Tweed will win you over with sophistication, Mr. Black here is tall, dark, handsome and a bit more gritty.  Think of him as the sexy, sensual and slightly naughty cousin of Green Irish Tweed.  Leather jackets and motorcycles, cigarettes and swaggers...James Dean and Marlon Brando.  Yum, sigh, swoon!

How about a little Autumn with a Celtic twist?  This lovely soap is more than just gorgeous...it smells absolutely amazing!  Think a cozy cottage, crackling fire, and the scent of buttery spices, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg.  Mmmmmm...

Pumpkin apple butter fragrance will put you in the mood for the holidays with top notes of orange, apple, pear, pineapple, and cherries; middle notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove; with base notes of warm vanilla. Unique, and simply amazing!  Warning:  This soap may cause you to lose your senses and take a bite instead of taking it in the shower.  This is not dessert.  I repeat, this is not dessert.

Why yes...yes, I do say!  After some prodding, pushing and let's be honest here, good old fashioned peer pressure, I finally decided to branch out and open an Artfire shop.  My shop is still on Etsy because I absolutely LOVE Etsy, but I figured there's no harm in having more than one web presence!

Orgasm, anyone?

So, Diann from AuntieDis and I are two peas in a pod.  Or as Forest put it, we're like peas and carrots.  We like the same music, have the same warped sense of humor, and even have pet names for each other.  I won't post them here because they aren't PG-13, but that's beside the point.  The most important thing we have in common is our love for Pink Sugar aka My Precioussssssssss!  Yep.  I said My Precioussssssssss.  I even have a pet name for my favorite scent ever and I can't help it if it's creepy LOTR Gollum-like.  It's true!

Recently, during one of our daily Yahoo IM chatting sessions, the idea of an Etsy collaboration came up.  It went a little bit like this:

Diann:  "What are we doing tonight, Misty?"
Misty:  "Same thing we do every night, Diann.  Try to take over the world!"
Diann:  "With candles, soap and body goodies, oh my?"
Misty:  "And My Precioussssssssssss...."

And so, born from that conversation, our love of Pink Sugar, too much LOTR, and our need to take over the world, is our very first collaboration that is sure make your senses orgasm!

Fear not, my little ones...this won't be the last you see of us!  We have more goody baskets in the works!  Do you have a specific scent you'd like?  Let us know!

It's Saturday Night...Let's Shake It Up!

As you know, more times than not, I participate in Etsy's SNS (Saturday Night Sale/Special) and I usually do a straight forward percent off your purchase.  Tonight, though...Misty's letting a bit loose and shakin things up!  Seriously...what's the point of being Wicked if I can't keep you on your toes?

Head over to my Etsy Shop, Wicked Soaps and get to shopping!

Scrubalicious!

That's right.  I said scrubalicious!  Despite having to get up at 5 AM this morning (a time, by the way, that should be illegal for being akin to medieval torture) and a 4 hour round trip drive to take my honey to the airport after a lovely 5 day visit, the "Get Off Your Ass and Create" fairy lit a fire under my booty.

Since I wasn't about to tempt her wrath and tell her to get her Bic away from my nether regions, I decided to make some new (you got it!) scubalicious Sugar Body Polishes!

Since I was in such a creative mood, I also decided to introduce not only new body polish scents, but to introduce them in new, smaller 4 ounce jars.  So, without further ado, The Fairy, her Bic and Myself are proud to present the following:

And since it's such a kick ass scent, you should try out the Tuscan Melon & Apricot Soap, too!

The other scents I was able to make and list today are French Lavender, Mojito, Mocha Java, Dark Raspberry, and Pomegranate & Sweet Orange.  They're all $8.00 for 4 oz jars, but as always, I can make them in 9 oz for $12.00 if requested!

Another new soap that I couldn't wait to get listed was inspired by “blanche” (aka “la Bleue”) absinthe.  Anise, sugar, juniper, spices and citrus make up a unique yet surprisingly clean smelling version of this legendary underground favorite.

Weekend Sale!

Baby, it's cold outside...that means it's time to grab some wickedly good items from Wicked Soaps and hop into a steamy bath!

It's been an amazing week for me.  I've been featured on 4 blogs this week and made it to the front page of Etsy for the 3rd time in 2 months.  If that's not reason enough to celebrate, well then, I don't know what the hell is!!

In honor of my wicked kick-ass week, how about a little (or not so little) sale?  January 8th - 10th, take 20% off your entire order and receive free shipping on orders of $50 or more! (Does not include clearance items, wholesale or custom orders, or shipping charges). Discount will be refunded via Paypal or you may request a revised invoice prior to paying.

Don't forget to check out my Clearance Section for some awesome deals...items marked WAY down!

Who says peer pressure is bad?

I have a confession to make.  I hate cherry.  Anything cherry makes me scrunch up my face and make pukey noises.  That being said when Di from AuntieDis told me I needed to make a Cherry Cola soap, my tummy rolled, my face scrunched up (even though she couldn't see it), and I believe my response was "Oh hell no!"

Since I am a strong independent woman who does things her own way, it's of course no surprise that one week later, I was staring at a bottle of Cherry Cola fragrance oil, grumbling and cursing Etsy's best candle maker and her stupid Cherry Cola.

Having gotten my immaturity out in the form of groans, muttering, and fake retching, I got to work.  But remember, my dear readers...I am a strong, independent woman!  If I am going to give in to peer pressure, I'm going to do it on my own terms!  So as I made the dreaded cherry soap from my own sensory hell, I snickered and added some chocolate fragrance.  Ha!  Take that, Di!  Na na na boo boo.

Imagine my suprise when I decided to be brave and take a whiff.  Hmmm.  *sniff sniff*  Hmmmm?  Wow.  *another sniff*  That actually smells pretty good.  Damn you, Di.

So, the moral of my story?  I don't really have one.  AuntieDis, the wench, was right.  Stupid Chocolate Cherry Cola soap is pretty damn good.

Year End Sale....What a Wicked Holiday Season!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas morning. My kiddo and I are watching Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith...one of his gifts from Santa. Yep, my little guy is a huge Star Wars geek and I love him for it! He made out like a bandit this year....a PS2, 2 new games for it, an iPod already full of music, and of course his Star Wars DVDs, just to name a few.

I can't tell you how wonderful this Holiday Season has been for me. In the 50 days since Wicked Soaps opened (well, 46 really, since I didn't start listing items until Nov. 9th), we've had 281 sales...that's an average of over 6 sales a day. Unbelievable for a brand new shop. In my wildest dreams, I didn't imagine success like this so soon. I can't even begin to thank all of my customers.

In honor of such a freaking awesome opening holiday season, I've decided to have a Year End Sale. Everything in the shop is marked down 25% (except Gift Sets, which are marked down 15%) December 25-December 31! 12 Days of Christmas

On the 6th day of Christmas, my true love bought for me, 6 body oils, fiiiiiiiiiiiiive Naaaaaaked Sooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaps, four body butters, three scrub cubes, two perfume oils and a stocking full of Wicked Goodness!

Haha...I'm not a composer or song-writer, so please don't shoot me for that. The truth of the matter is, I'm late making this blog post, it should have been done 6 days ago when we still had 12 days left. I suppose my tardiness is to your benefit, though...you only had to sit through my rendition of 6 days of Christmas versus 12 ;-)

Ahem, back to the matter at hand. Wicked Soaps is running a spectacular, fantastic, wonderful (you get the idea) 12 Days of Christmas Sale! Through Friday, December 18th, take 15% off your entire order at www.WickedSoaps.etsy.com. No code needed. If you make a purchase, I automatically refund you 15% of your purchase price (you know the drill...it doesn't include shipping costs).

You can either pay and receive the refund or you can convo me and let me know you would like a revised invoice prior to paying. I'm pretty easy! Either works for me!

It's been a while since I last blogged and in that time I've added many new scents and products to Wicked Soaps!

And....we're off!

The new shop is up and running! For those of you who aren't in the know, I'm Misty, and used to make up 1/2 of Heathen's Hearth. I recently ended the partnership and have opened up my own shop, Wicked Soaps!

I'm still working on new products, but hey, it's a start, right? I have already listed some of my decadent cold process soaps, goats milk soaps and sugar scrub cubes, but have many more on the way, along with some sinfully wicked new products!

Currently in the making are Skin Luster Body Oils, Sugar Body Polish, Perfume Oil, Face Masks, and Wicked Body Butter!

And never fear...there's still a whole boat load of ideas banging around in my noggin ;-).
