Beer: It's Not Just For Breakfast Anymore

OATMEAL STOUT COLD PROCESS SOAP

I recently decided to try a few new beer inspired fragrance oils from one of my favorite suppliers: Oatmeal Stout, Pumpkin Lager, Raspberry Porter, and Honey Ale.  I couldn't use these babies in regular cold process soap with water, no way, Jose.  I had to use real BEER.  And not just any beer, I had to track down the same beers they're named after.  So the hunting began and actually, I didn't have to search long or go far.  New Holland Brewing Company in Holland, Michigan (I love buying local!) has their delicious year-round The Poet Oatmeal Stout and just released their seasonal Ichabod Pumpkin Ale.  And would you believe it?  They were available at my local supermarket!  Ding, ding, ding, we have some winners!!

As you can see from the picture above, Oatmeal Stout was the first of these delicious beer soaps to be made and oh my goodness, is it to die for!  WickedSoaps' Oatmeal Stout Cold Process Soap is a full bodied and smooth beer soap blended with Creamy Oatmeal, Orange Peel, Butterscotch, Farm-fresh Milk, Nutty Almond and Rich Vanilla.  Click the photo above or below to purchase this soap from my Etsy shop.

OATMEAL STOUT COLD PROCESS SOAP

This afternoon found me in the kitchen making Pumpkin Lager soap and Raspberry Porter (using one of my personal favorite beers to drink, Shock Top Raspberry Wheat).  Both will be available for purchase in about 4 weeks.

So why use beer soap, you ask?  Well aside from the obvious of being supremely cool and bad ass (c'mon it's BEER SOAP!), beer is actually good for your skin.  Soap made with beer nourishes and conditions skin while creating a rich, thick, creamy lather that you'll love. Try it for shaving!

Wicked sale for a special little boy!

No, no, I'm not selling a kid, that's illegal (although I may or may not joke about selling the children on a daily basis).

Yes, I know, I know....it's been a while since you've seen my lovely face on Blogger, but life, kids, yada yada...

In fact, the reason I'm here today has to do with kids.  One in particular.  Ben, a very special little boy who means the world to me, is in need of a new netbook or laptop for school.  You're probably thinking, "Pfft...that's not a need, that's a luxury" but this little dude is a special needs kiddo with Cerebral Palsy.  So what, you ask?  It's extremely difficult for him to write legibly and he has to use a computer for all of his school work and homework.  Unfortunately, his new school will not provide one for his use.

Little Dude Ben!

So in hopes to raise some moolah toward a netbook for Ben, WickedSoaps is hosting a Weekend Sale!  Save 25% on everything in my Etsy shop this weekend when you use coupon code "WEEKEND25" during checkout.  100% of all sales this weekend will go toward buying Ben a netbook :)

I have a bunch of new enticing, entirely delicious smell goods since we last met...

Pink Frosted Sugar Cookie Goats Milk Soap

Pumpkin Vanilla Chai Goats Milk Soap
And lots of tried and true WickedSoaps favorites!  So swing on in, take a look around and maybe buy a thing or two and help out a good kid!

Vacation is over!

After an impromptu shop vacation, due to 1 overworked soaper, 1 almost-neglected child, and not nearly enough hours in the day, I'm happy to say Wicked Soaps is now open for business once again!

I'm sad to say that my Body Butter Cremes are discontinued for the season, but happy to report that I will soon have lovely and decadent Milk & Honey Body Lotions in place!  Also coming are sinful perfume oils in no-mess, easy to apply (and best of all) more cost effective roll-on bottles!

Just so you don't think I spent my "vacation" twiddling my thumbs, I've listed 3 new yummilicious soaps and worked my soapy butt off building up stock!

I have to say, closing my shop was hard...I almost opened it back up about a dozen times, but that would have left me in the same tough spot I was before...unable to juggle everything and not able to get orders out for almost a week.  It feels great to be back!!

WickedSoaps on Artfire, You Say?

Why yes...yes, I do say!  After some prodding, pushing and let's be honest here, good old fashioned peer pressure, I finally decided to branch out and open an Artfire shop.  My shop is still on Etsy because I absolutely LOVE Etsy, but I figured there's no harm in having more than one web presence!

So, in honor of branching out, I'd like to welcome you all to WickedSoap on Artfire with a Grand Opening Sale.  Save 20% on everything in the shop today, Thursday, March 11th through Sunday, March 14th!  Don't worry about any paypal refunds or coupon codes...all prices are already reduced!

This is a great way to try out some of my newest creations at a lower price.  I've got some new soaps and body polishes just dying for a new home!

As always, I can fit 3-6 soaps in a Priority Mail Flat Rate envelope, so stock up and save on shipping!

Who says peer pressure is bad?

I have a confession to make.  I hate cherry.  Anything cherry makes me scrunch up my face and make pukey noises.  That being said when Di from AuntieDis told me I needed to make a Cherry Cola soap, my tummy rolled, my face scrunched up (even though she couldn't see it), and I believe my response was "Oh hell no!"

Since I am a strong independent woman who does things her own way, it's of course no surprise that one week later, I was staring at a bottle of Cherry Cola fragrance oil, grumbling and cursing Etsy's best candle maker and her stupid Cherry Cola.

Having gotten my immaturity out in the form of groans, muttering, and fake retching, I got to work.  But remember, my dear readers...I am a strong, independent woman!  If I am going to give in to peer pressure, I'm going to do it on my own terms!  So as I made the dreaded cherry soap from my own sensory hell, I snickered and added some chocolate fragrance.  Ha!  Take that, Di!  Na na na boo boo.

Imagine my suprise when I decided to be brave and take a whiff.  Hmmm.  *sniff sniff*  Hmmmm?  Wow.  *another sniff*  That actually smells pretty good.  Damn you, Di.

So, the moral of my story?  I don't really have one.  AuntieDis, the wench, was right.  Stupid Chocolate Cherry Cola soap is pretty damn good.

12 Days of Christmas

On the 6th day of Christmas, my true love bought for me, 6 body oils, fiiiiiiiiiiiiive Naaaaaaked Sooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaps, four body butters, three scrub cubes, two perfume oils and a stocking full of Wicked Goodness!

Haha...I'm not a composer or song-writer, so please don't shoot me for that. The truth of the matter is, I'm late making this blog post, it should have been done 6 days ago when we still had 12 days left. I suppose my tardiness is to your benefit, though...you only had to sit through my rendition of 6 days of Christmas versus 12 ;-)

Ahem, back to the matter at hand. Wicked Soaps is running a spectacular, fantastic, wonderful (you get the idea) 12 Days of Christmas Sale! Through Friday, December 18th, take 15% off your entire order at www.WickedSoaps.etsy.com. No code needed. If you make a purchase, I automatically refund you 15% of your purchase price (you know the drill...it doesn't include shipping costs).

You can either pay and receive the refund or you can convo me and let me know you would like a revised invoice prior to paying. I'm pretty easy! Either works for me!

It's been a while since I last blogged and in that time I've added many new scents and products to Wicked Soaps!
