Thankfulness and Black Friday Sale

There are so many, things I am thankful for this year...but my #1 is my boy, my sweet, awesome, rockin', absolutely fantastic 7 year old son, Aidan.  You can see him below with his hot, rockin' momma ;-).

As my fellow American's are aware, tomorrow is the day known as Black Friday.  The day that millions of crazy ass people get up before the ass crack of dawn to go fight through crowds and line up with other crazy ass people in order to buy things on sale.  I am not one of those crazy ass people.  I like sleep.  I don't get enough sleep.  I am NOT  interrupting my sleep to stand in line outside of Macy's in 20 degree weather at 4 am behind some chick with a sleeping bag and scary gleam in her eye... If you're like me, you'll be happy to hear this...

WickedSoaps is having a Black Friday sale!  Save 15% on everything in the shop when you use the code "blackfriday" at check-out.  That's right.  15% off EVERYTHING. And best of all?  You don't have to leave your house!

Misty's Top Ten

With so many different fragrances to choose from in my shop, I often have people asking me what I would recommend.  As I was working today on some new products, I thought it might be kinda nice to put together a list of my top 10 favorite fragrances.  So...on with my list!

10.  Thai Coconut - A sweet, exotic scent with an Asian flair! An awesome variation of the traditional coconut, this scent combines coconut milk with lemongrass, vanilla and musk.
9.  Frosted Snowdrops embraces a romantic musk & sandalwood background, while providing the aroma of delicate winter flowers. A sinfully wicked choice for the holidays!
8.  Rosemary Mint is a refreshing blend of fresh rosemary mixed with revitalizing mint in our natural goat's milk soap. A wickedly invigorating concoction!
7.  Hawaiian White Ginger conveys the fresh aroma of these lovely white flowers with soft hints of the ginger spice that make them so unique. A soft floral musk anchors the aroma of this beloved fragrance.

6.  Spiced Eggnog - What better way to get into the Holiday spirit than with the heavenly aroma of creamy eggnog swirled with cinnamon, clove and nutmeg?

5.  Green Irish Tweed - Dashingly debonair...this scent was made by House of Creed specifically for Cary Grant. A spicy-sweet blend of French verbena and lemon, a green Florentine iris and violet leaves, and sublime notes of Mysore sandalwood and ambergris.

4.  Iced Lemon Biscotti - A zesty lemon rind aroma rounded out with buttery yellow sponge cake, toasted coconut and buttercream frosting.

3.  Sea Salt Caramel - You will be more than tempted by this delicious concoction of buttery caramel, brown sugar and rich vanilla! I seriously can't say enough about this soap...the fragrance is to die for!
2.  WickedSoaps' Turkish Mocha Soap has creamy top notes of milk, cardamom, cocoa and a touch of nutmeg. The alluring, complex blend winds down to heady scents of vanilla and honey, and of course, Turkish Coffee. Just imagine yourself in a small corner alley coffee shop in an exotic locale and inhale! If you're a coffee lover, this is a must buy!

1.  My Precioussssssssssss aka Pink Sugar!  One of my favorite scents EVER! I swear, when I use this, I want to eat myself! A fruity blend of cotton candy, lemon drops, caramel and raspberry jam on a dry down of musks. If there was ever a sinful, wicked scent, this is it!

So, that's Misty's Top Ten list....what are your top favorites from WickedSoaps?

How do you measure a year?

Green Irish Tweed Sugar Body Polish
Tomorrow is a very special day in the life of WickedSoaps...it's the 1 year anniversary of opening my Etsy shop!  One year ago tomorrow on November 5th, thanks to so many of my good friends, I decided to give my new handmade bath and body business a chance and opened up WickedSoaps on Etsy.  This last year has been absolutely amazing!

I just can't help it...I...must...sing!  *breaks into song*

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights
In cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.
In five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure
A year in the life?

Ahem.  *bows*  Thank you, thank you very much.  I have no idea why I'm selling soap, I obviously have a future on Broadway, right?

Spiced Eggnog Gift Basket - An AuntieDis and WickedSoaps Collaboration

Well, I dunno about you guys, but for me, this last year has been measured in bars of soap, jars of lotion, tubs of scrub and all other smell goods of the Wicked persuasion being sold.  And how did I measure this last year, kittens?  By 2,053 sales and counting!

In honor of that, I am throwing a 5 day long Etsyversary Sale!  November 5th (the day I opened my Etsy shop) through November 9th (the day I listed and sold my first item) save 20% on everything in the shop AND get free shipping on all orders of $50 or more (you know how it works...$50 in product, does not include shipping prices, no custom or wholesale orders, yada yada).

The best part of this?  It's just in time for you to stock up on goodies for holiday gift-giving!

Pumpkin + Cupcakes = 7 Year Old Bliss

So yeah...cupcakes are pretty much the reason my 7 year boy gets up each day.  If the world were suddenly bereft of the little frosted cakes of goodness, I'm sure he'd have a nervous breakdown.

He may have a small sweet tooth.

He also, like his momma, loves anything pumpkin.  And I do mean love.  Yesterday when I announced that we were going to bake pumpkin cupcakes, I honestly think I saw a hint of lust flicker in his eyes.  Or he may have been farting.  But either way, he grabbed his stool and was at the counter faster than you can stinky.  (I think he really did fart.)

Anywho, I had a request over on Facebook for this recipe, which I got out of the Taste of Home Ultimate Halloween magazine, so without further ado, here it is:

Aidan takes his mixing duties quite seriously.  He may have also snuck a taste or 15.
Surprise Pumpkin Cupcakes

Ingredients:

1 can (15 ounces) solid-pack pumpkin
2 cups sugar
1 cup canola oil (I used regular vegetable oil, which is soybean oil and it worked just fine)
4 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
 Filling:
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg

  1. In a large bowl, beat pumpkin, sugar, oil and eggs until well blended.  In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt; gradually beat into the pumpkin mixture until blended.
  2. For filling, in another small bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth.  Add egg; beat on low until just combined.
  3. Fill paper-lined muffin cups one-third full.  Drop filling by tablespoonfuls into the center of each cupcake.  Cover with remaining batter.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the pumpkin portion comes out clean.  Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
  5. Frost with cream cheese canned frosting; sprinkle with Halloween candies.

Our finished masterpiece!
I have to add that throughout the making of these little frosted nuggets of orgasmic joy, Aidan kept saying, "These are going to be SO good, mom.  Did you taste the mix?  Soooo good.  We make the best cupcakes."

He was right, they were soooo good.  In fact, there are only two things that would make these babies better....being calorie free and having them fed to me by a naked Gerard Butler while he speaks in that f*ckhot Scottish accent.  Yeah.  I love me some cupcakes...

How to name a pirate. Soap, that is.

Some of you may have noticed that I have a new line of Special Edition Soaps featuring some really kick-ass soap wrappers custom made by Auntiescardshop especially for moi.  Oh?  You hadn't seen them?  Well, what the heck?!  Go look

You'll find some amazing soaps wrapped up all pretty like with equally amazing handmade soap wrappers.  They are, in short, amazing.

And my personal favorite...the soap that I cannot seem to name...

I currently have a voting contest going on over on my Facebook fan page.  Scoot on over and "like" the name/comment you like best for this soap!  The name that has the most "likes" wins, and the person who submitted the winning name gets a free bar of my currently unnamed pirate soap :)

Like a Squirrel gathering acorns...

...I've been running around getting ready for Autumn!  There's never enough time in the day to get everything I want accomplished actually accomplished, but I'm getting there, slowly but surely.

In just one more week, my first batch of Pumpkin Cappuccino soap will be done curing and ready to list in my Etsy shop.  A week or so after that, my Earth Goddess soap will be ready to list.  I need to get off my arse and make my Amber Moon soap, too!

 Pumpkin Cappuccino Soap

In between working, sleeping, CP soapmaking, and mommying, I've managed to whip of a few new soaps that are nothing short of lovely (forgive my narcissism)....

Ahhh...Mr. Tweed, I love you.  I swear, you look and smell so fabulous I am giving up on men and making you my #1.  Isn't he handsome?  Oh, you should smell him....all debonair and class and Cary Grant in a bar of soap.  Think fedoras and martinis, my loves...

While Mr. Tweed will win you over with sophistication, Mr. Black here is tall, dark, handsome and a bit more gritty.  Think of him as the sexy, sensual and slightly naughty cousin of Green Irish Tweed.  Leather jackets and motorcycles, cigarettes and swaggers...James Dean and Marlon Brando.  Yum, sigh, swoon!

How about a little Autumn with a Celtic twist?  This lovely soap is more than just gorgeous...it smells absolutely amazing!  Think a cozy cottage, crackling fire, and the scent of buttery spices, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg.  Mmmmmm...

Pumpkin apple butter fragrance will put you in the mood for the holidays with top notes of orange, apple, pear, pineapple, and cherries; middle notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove; with base notes of warm vanilla. Unique, and simply amazing!  Warning:  This soap may cause you to lose your senses and take a bite instead of taking it in the shower.  This is not dessert.  I repeat, this is not dessert.

Help a girl out...Vote for new soaps!

I have so many new amazing scents for Fall inspired soaps that I am having an impossible time trying to decide which ones to make first!  Some will be cold process soaps and some will be melt and pour soaps, so all will be made eventually.

Right now, I am trying to decide which of the 4 following I should use to create cold process soaps.  Can you help a wicked girl out?

Here's a quick description of each scent:

Pumpkin Cappuccino:  Nice spicy pumpkin with the perfect hint of robust coffee.

Black Irish:  A clean, sporty, marine type with top-notes of lavender, fir and bergamot, a light floral/herbal middle-note, and a woodsy, sandalwood and musk base-note.

Amaretto Tiramisu:  A delicious treat from the heart of Italy! Smell all the wonderful tones of Italian amaretto espresso, lady fingers, cocoa powder, Madeira, mascarpone, and heavy cream.

Earth Goddess:  An earthy blend reminiscient of a summer forest just after a rain storm. Ripe with juicy berries, wild mint and herbs.

Amber Moon:  Warm woods, lively citruses and soft floral notes are harmoniously blended, creating the core of this composition.  Precious amber, creamy sandalwood and vanilla further enhance this accord, adding to its alluring appeal.

Gingerbread Latte:  The comforting scent of home baked gingerbread and tantalizing espresso.

Green Irish Tweed:  Creed's Green Irish Tweed was created for Cary Grant. This is an elegant, rich, sporty scent with notes of sandalwood, Florentine iris, herbaceous clover, French verbena, violet leaves and ambergris. It's simply what a well-dressed man ought to smell like!

Cinnamon Toffee:  A blend of caramel, creme brulee, cinnamon, sugar, toffee and vanilla.

Maple Crunch:  Blend of maple, smoky nut, and vanilla bean.

Butter Rum:  Old-fashioned blend of rich, buttery vanilla with a dash of cinnamon and spices.

Now on to the real reason for this post...

A few of you may remember my post about a month ago about one grown up Cedric Diggory.  If you don't, click here and take a peek...trust me, you won't regret it.  Mmmm...lobster bibs and beer....

So Mr. Robert Pattinson, formerly Cedric Diggory of Harry Potter fame and more currently Edward Cullen of the Twilight phenomena, has taken the world (or perhaps just female hearts and lady bits) by storm.  He's a pretty, pretty specimen of the male persuasion, though, I never thought he had an over abundance of talent.  In fact, I'm fairly certain I referred to him as "barely legal eye candy" in my last post about him.

It's time for me to eat my words.

Two nights ago I watched his newest flick, Remember Me.  I didn't really have any expectations except perhaps an increased heartbeat, heavy breathing and maybe an excess of saliva.  Color me shocked when after I got over the initial daze of his prettiness, I realized the man was acting.  And acting well.

And looking so f*cking good it should be illegal.  I mean, complete sex hair, scruffy, sweaty, oh-my-god-let-me-get-in-the-shower-with-you-you-dirty-boy kind of good.  Here...take a look and see what I mean...

Ahem.  Anyway.  Back to the movie.  It was good.  Extremely good.  For those who haven't heard of it, here's a little summary ***MAJORY SPOILER...READ AT YOUR OWN RISK***:

Tyler (Rob Pretty Pattinson) is a 21 year old living in NYC in the summer of 2001.  He's still dealing with the suicide of his older brother 6 years before, his strained relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan), and trying to be a good brother to his 11 year old sister to whom his father doesn't give enough attention.  Ally is a student at NYU who lives with her overprotective cop father after her mother was murdered in the subway with Ally there to witness it when she was younger.  These two kids meet, fall in love, are torn apart due to angst and secrets, get back together.  Toward the end, you see that dad starts making an effort with lil sis, Tyler sees that dad loves them all, group hug, guys!  The movie ends with Tyler waiting in his father's office while his father takes his little sister to school.  When sis sits in her desk, camera pans to the chalkboard to reveal the date is September 11, 2001.  Back to Tyler, standing in dad's office looking out the window and the camera tracks back to reveal him looking out over the Manhattan skyline from one of the top floors of one of the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

I suck at summaries, but let me say this...I saw the date on the chalkboard and had a feeling of dread start in my belly.  When they panned out and showed him in the WTC, I felt like I'd been punched in the chest.

It's really rare that a movie lingers with me, but this one has almost haunted me for the last two days.  Go forth and watch, kittens.  Even if it's not your thing, at least you'll get the eye candy :)

What the hell happened to Cedric Diggory?!

Ok, ok...I'm not really one of those fan girls.  You know the one's I'm talking about...screaming, pulling at their hair, jumping up and down...nope.  I haven't been one of those since 1989 when NKOTB ruled my every waking moment.  Ahhh...Joey....

Anyway, normally this blog is reserved for only shop, Etsy, and soapy related things, but today, I thought I'd blog about something (erm...someome) a bit different.

I don't think it's ever been a secret that I love Twilight.  I picked the books up one morning while in Target with my boyfriend, started reading the first one in the car on the way home, and didn't put the sucker down until I was done with it.  Honest.  I even took it with me to the loo.  And when I finished Twilight, I immediately moved to New Moon...etc etc.  One weekend and 4 novels later, I was a 30 year old woman pining over a fictional 109 year old teenage sparkly vegetarian vampire.  Sounds outlandish, I know.

I was pretty excited when the movie Twilight came out, though I was a bit surprised when I heard they chose Cedric Freaking Diggory to play Edward.  C'mon, man!  This is Edward Fucking Cullen!  Yes, I realize that Edward is really only 17, but whomever played him had to present an air of sophistication and wisdom, maturity way beyond 17 years.  Did they really think Cedric was the boy for this?

I had to investigate.  Imagine my surprise when I did some sly googling and realized little Cedric Diggory had grown up.  Grown into a very surprising yummilicious Robert Pattinson....Still, at the time, I didn't go all fan girl.  He was some little 21-22 year old actor (and still Cedric Diggory in my mind) and I was 30 years old.  Fast forward about a year.  New Moon is just about to be released and I come across this:

I immediately drooled.  No really, I think I felt some dribble out.  I wiped the corner of my mouth, right clicked that mutha and saved it to my desktop...all the while thinking in the back of my head,

You know when you fan girled all over NKOTB he was in diapers...you know this, right, Misty?

Shut up.  I'm not going out and buying Tiger Beat so I can plaster my bedroom walls with him, am I?

Nope.  Do you think he even knows who NKOTB is?  He wasn't even born when they got together.

Shut up.  He's legal.

Ok, Mrs. Robinson.

It took me a while, but I think over the last 6 months, I've become comfortable viewing Mr. Pattinson as nothing more than eye candy.  Very young eye candy.  Legal eye candy.  Ok, ok...so I downloaded some Johnny Depp, too...just to raise the age median.

The point of this entire pointless post (other than an excuse to stare at Robert Pattinson), is to admit to one of my guilty (and I do mean guitly) pleasures.  It begs the question, though...what is your guilty pleasure?

I'll leave you with one more photograph of a very grown up Cedric Diggory.  Admit it...even with the bib, he's delicious.

$1 Shipping Sale! Or maybe the Free Balling Sale?...

You know those rap videos where it shows that giant ass car rolling and bouncing down the road?  They spend god only knows how much to put special struts or suspension (or since I don't speak Car and Driver we'll just call it bouncy stuff) on their car.  HA!  Suckers.  I have that same bounce to my car and I got it absolutely free!  AND it came with a side of shimmy!  Now all I need is a great stereo system to blast out my music with the bass loud enough to rattle windows the next town over.  That's right...I'm pretty fly for a white girl.

As much as I'd like to keep my gangsta rap girl image, I'm afraid I need to get rid of the bounce and shimmy.  Therefore I'm taking my car in this weekend for new tires and what I believe will be new struts and probably ball bearings.  And because I'm a poor chick with a questionable sense of humor, I decided not to do stand-up comedy to raise funds, but instead have a sale in my Etsy shop.

Because I'm naughty, risque, and kind of a dirty girl, I seriously thought about calling this my "Free Balling and Strutting Sale."  Buuuuuut, I thought that might be crossing right over the line from naughty to plain old perverted.  (But since I am a weeee little bit perverted, I've started a line called Big Ass Balls of Soap...check them out!)

In order to preserve my professional image, I decided to just call it my $1 Dollar Shipping Sale!  Not as exciting, I know, but seriously, it's still fabulous!!

Every domestic order ships for only $1 and Canadian orders ship for $2 no matter your purchase amount! No code needed, no waiting for refunds. Shipping prices already reflect the sale so you can just shop and go! A great excuse to stock up on your favorites or perhaps try that new scent you've been drooling over!

Sale runs through Sunday, May 23rd at 11:59PM EST.

Just go to WickedSoaps or click on that pretty, pretty soap at the top of the page and it will take you to my Etsy shop where you can get your shopping groove on!

Can't you smell that smell?

True story:  I'd been at work for about 2 hours this morning and I swear on all that's holy, I could smell pancakes and maple syrup.  I kept looking around, finally asking my boss if he brought in breakfast because I can smell something so good it's making my mouth water.  He said he didn't, but he could smell something yummy, too.   I shrugged it off and went back to work.  About 30 minutes later, I reached my arm out to answer the phone and it hit me.  It's me!  *I* am what smells so damn delicious and edible!  I am not ashamed to say I put my nose right to my arm and inhaled deeply.  I am also not ashamed to say that my boss looked at me like I was a few fries short of a happy meal.

So what, you ask, am I wearing today that has me almost licking my arm?  It is the fruits of my weekend labor, deliciousness in a jar, mouthwatering creaminess--ok, you get the point.  Sea Salt Caramel Milk & Honey LotionThat, my kittens, is what has me drooling today.

I spent all day Saturday creating 16 new Milk & Honey Lotions and they are now (finally!) available in my shop!  You can choose from these yummilicious scents:

Operation: Anti-Stink

*cue the Mission Impossible music*

Your mission, should you choose to accept it...stop stink, spread Wicked Soaps' smell good products!

Ahem.  Anyway.  Anti-Stink, you say?  Why yes, Operation Anti-Stink is probably pretty self-explanatory.  And it's not top secret knowledge that I've been embroiled in this dangerous operation for months now...playing with hazardous materials, working against the clock, producing soaps, lotions, butters, scrubs, oils...all for the greater good of the World's olfactory senses.  It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it...

I am most pleased to introduce the newest weapon in my Operation Anti-Stink arsenal....this one is going to take the enemy by storm...

Right now I have 4 fantastic fragrances:  Pink Sugar (aka My Preciousssss), Dirty Dreaded Hippie (Linda, baby, this one's for you!), Hawaiian White Ginger (it's pretty fly for a floral), and Jasmine Neroli (la yum!).

I'm not stopping there, though, my friends.  This is a serious issue and it's going to take a few more fragrances to give us a fighting chance.  So keep your eyes open for a few more!

Vacation is over!

After an impromptu shop vacation, due to 1 overworked soaper, 1 almost-neglected child, and not nearly enough hours in the day, I'm happy to say Wicked Soaps is now open for business once again!

I'm sad to say that my Body Butter Cremes are discontinued for the season, but happy to report that I will soon have lovely and decadent Milk & Honey Body Lotions in place!  Also coming are sinful perfume oils in no-mess, easy to apply (and best of all) more cost effective roll-on bottles!

Just so you don't think I spent my "vacation" twiddling my thumbs, I've listed 3 new yummilicious soaps and worked my soapy butt off building up stock!

I have to say, closing my shop was hard...I almost opened it back up about a dozen times, but that would have left me in the same tough spot I was before...unable to juggle everything and not able to get orders out for almost a week.  It feels great to be back!!

The Life of Misty..and some important Wicked annoucements!

Lots of happenings in my life lately!  I think the  biggest news is, after 6 months of job hunting, I finally landed and started a new gig 3 weeks ago as a Legal Secretary.  While this is good news for my pocketbook, my energy level has something to say to the contrary.

Simply put, the paycheck is wonderful, but driving 40 minutes one way to work 40 hours a week as a legal secretary; at least 20-30 hours a week filling orders for Wicked Soaps, creating new products, etc; and then my never-ending (but most rewarding) role as Mom to the most amazing almost-seven-year-old boy ever, I'm pooped.

Unfortunately, I've had to push my shipping schedule back to 5-7 business days instead of 3-5.  I'm really hoping that once I get back into the groove of all work and no sleep, I'll be able to go back to 3-5 business days.  And I'm working on building up stock.  Which means, my weekends are spent making soap in large batches like a mad woman!  That will make it much easier on me in the long run (imagine being able to just pull bars of soap to package as they are ordered, versus actually making each bar as they are ordered!) and will mean quicker shipping for my customers.

In other news, it's starting to get warmer outside which means I need to pull my Body Butter Cremes from the shop for the season.  Since they are made from 100% vegan butters and oils, whipped up to a nice, light, creamy consistency, and melt at body temperature....shipping them during the warmer months means they arrive a liquidy, gooey, hot mess.  Who wants that?!

So, Sunday, April 18th will be the last day to order Body Butter Cremes from my shop.  Never fear, though!  I already have a brand new Milk & Honey Lotion in the works that will be available very soon to replace the Body Butter Creme.  In fact, I love this lotion so much, I may keep it year round (in addition to the body butter, of course).

Now, I need to show off some of my new favorite products.  As we've already covered, it's getting warm outside, and that makes me think of summer...and summer makes me think coconut!!  (To be quite honest, the real reason I'm showing these off is because there was an epic battle between myself and the coconut.  It included a hammer, knife, screwdriver and finally a big-ass rock.  I went all cavewoman on that coconut with a rock and made it my bitch).  I was victorious!!  Oh, the things I do for good photos...

I think that's it for now.  I know, this was the longest post I've made, so I hope you all stuck with me :)  I'm not usually this verbose, but it had to be said.  Have a lovely week and talk to you soon!
